3 inch Mortar Baseplate
Description
The mortar baseplate is made from steel and is painted olive drab. It has been reinforced with welded steel bars. Steel anchor spikes are welded to the bottom of the plate. No markings.
History / Summary
3 inch mortar baseplate issued to D Company 7 Volunteer Defence Corps (VDC), New South Wales, made by Sergeant John Illingsworth of Manly. The mortar was used for training and instructional purposes at the outbreak of the Second World War.
