Digger departs (Dinkum Aussie issue)
Description
Blaiberg depicts a soldier, his wife and their four small children walking up a makeshift gang plank onto an imaginary ship on which they are about to leave for Australia after he has been demobilised. The artist's inscription refers to taking with him 'some little things he's accumulated whilst waiting to be demobbed'. These are a wife and four children. Two of the children are walking up the gang plank, while the man is carrying a small child in one arm and a crying baby in the other. The older children are carrying their toys.
