Telescopic Sight for Type 97 Tank Machine Gun in Wooden Box
Description
Japanese telescopic sight for Type 97 7.7mm tank MG and wooden box. This weapon was standard light armament on Japanese tanks. The sight is a fixed focus telescope with 1.5 x magnification and a field of view of 30 degree. Markings: Translation of black inked Japanese characters located on the lid of the wooden box "BOX FOR TYPE 97 ON VEHCLE HEAVY MACHINE GUN SIGHT/ No. 18826". Transalation of Japanese characters found on aluminium plate on the outside of the box "No. 24062/ MANUFACTURED SEPTEMBER 1943"/ TOMIOKA OPTICAL MACHINERY FACTORY". Stamp on inside of box reads "71". Impressed into telescope barrel "No. 18826/ 1.5 x 30 degrees/ (insp. stamp)/ No. 24062". Cleaning cloth and C spanner in case.
