Description

Sergeant Donald Taylor discusses his experiences with the British Army and coming to Australia to assist with the war effort during the Second World War, interviewed by Robert Brooks on 9 September 1995. Sgt Taylor was part of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers Unit (REME) that was transferred to Australia to instruct Australian personnel. He was sworn into the Australian Army and issued Australian uniforms and equipment. The arrival of the REME in Australia formed the Royal Australian Electrical Mechanical Engineers Unit (RAEME).
