Lined exercise book containing a 23 page memoir handwritten in 1977 by Mr Thomas Wainman who served in the Royal Navy during the First World War, before spending almost 30 years working as a Tooling Engineer with the company A.V Roe Manchester, England involved in the production of Lancaster aircraft primarily during 1941-44. Also includes a typescript copy of the memoir, typed by Mrs Norma Roach, a friend of Thomas Wainman. Mr Wainman emigrated to Australia in 1965 after his retirement from A.V Roe.
