Description
Brass hat badge featuring a kiwi bird in between two fern leaves. The leaves are joined with two scrolls. The one at the top is inscribed 'South Africa 1901-02' and the bottom one, '4th Otago Regt.'.
History / Summary
Hat badge of the 4th (Otago Rifles) Regiment. Worn on the slouch hat of the New Zealand Infantry, which is commonly referred to as the ‘lemon squeezer’ hat due to the shape.
