Studio portrait of 1786 Private (Pte) Cecil Bertram Hanson, 9th Battalion. A labourer from Mosman Bay, NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Hanson embarked with the 9th Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Star of England on 8 April 1915. Whilst serving on the Gallipoli Peninsula, he was wounded in action at Gaba Tepe and evacuated to HS Sicilia where, on 10 June 1915, aged 24, he succumbed to his wounds and was buried at sea. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli.
