Studio portrait of 497 Private (Pte) Henry Renton Nicholson Bridges, 23rd Battalion. A woolpresser prior to enlisting on 22 February 1915, Pte Bridges joined the 23rd Battalion at Gallipoli on 30 August 1915. Pte Bridges was promoted to the rank of Company Sergeant Major (CSM), 23rd Battalion, on 29 March 1916. He died of wounds in France on 9 August 1916.
