Studio portrait of 873 Private (Pte) Bert Poole, 34th Battalion. A miner from Singleton, New South Wales, Pte Poole embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Hororata (A20), on 2 May 1916. On 25 October, 1916, he joined the 54th Battalion and was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 15 May 1917, age 27.
