Studio portrait of 2167 Private (Pte) Albert Goodacre, 53rd Battalion. A farmer from Woodstock, NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Goodacre embarked with the 4th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Vestalia on 11 July 1916. Later transferring to the 1st Battalion, he was wounded in action at Ypres, Belgium and, on 6 October 1917, aged 20, he died as a result of his wounds and was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
