Studio portrait of 79 Corporal (Cpl) Raymond Leslie Jones. A salesman from Essendon, Victoria, prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne with the 14th Battalion aboard HMAT Ulysses (A38) on 22 December 1914. He was promoted to Sergeant (Sgt) in December 1916. Sgt Jones was killed in action in France on 11 April 1917. He was 24 years old.
