Description
Original grave markers of 6878 Private (Pte) Charles Sandford, 24th Battalion, and 7128 Private Robert Arthur Pearson, 28th Battalion, in the Vignacourt cemetery. Pte Sandford, a labourer from Lakes Entrance, Vic, embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) on 21 November 1917 and died of wounds on 15 June 1918, aged 19. Pte Pearson, a plumber from North Fremantle, WA, embarked from Albany aboard HMAT Port Melbourne (A16) on 24 July 1917 and died of wounds on 15 June 1918, aged 19.
