Informal outdoor portrait of 412832 Pilot Officer (PO) Hector Scott Keable Ross. A banana grower from Bilambil, NSW, PO Ross underwent training at Tamworth before embarking from Sydney, NSW, on 28 March 1942 for further training in Canada under the Empire Air Training Scheme. He was promoted to Flying Officer (FO) on 8 June 1944 while serving with 107 Squadron, RAF, in England. FO Ross was killed on operations over France on 5 July 1944. He was 23 years old.
