Outdoor group portrait of members of the 2/23rd Battalion Carrier Platoon at Dimra, Palestine in January 1941. (Dimra was a small Arab village 11 kilometres north east of Gaza City.) Identified from left to right are: VX42266 Corporal (Cpl) John Leslie Johnson from Walwa, Victoria (killed in action on 17 May 1941) ; VX47693 Cpl Albert Charles Artis from Port Fairy, Victoria; VX32730 Cpl Albert Spink from Box Hill, Victoria (died of wounds on 22 April 1942 between Tobruk and Derna, Libya); VX48780 Captain Graham Grantham Anderson from Prahran, Victoria (died of wounds on 13 July 1942 in the First Battle of El Alamein, Egypt); VX42081 Sergeant (Sgt) Peter Richard Hook from Hay, Victoria (later awarded a Military Medal and promoted to Lieutenant); and VX21140 Sgt Alan Armytage Holdsworth from Gardiner, Victoria (killed in action on 22 July 1942 in First Battle of El Alamein.)
