Collection relating to the First World War service of 5440 Corporal James Mason, 4 Australian Pioneer Battalion, Australia, at sea, France, 1916.

Wallet 1 of 1 - contains three letters from Mason to his sister Gert. One letter [undated] was written from a camp in Bendigo, one letter [undated] was written at sea, and the third letter is dated 7 July 1916. Also contains a letter written to Mason's parents from Sergeant Amos J Cheel [dated 3 August 1916] regarding Mason's death, an obituary of Mason from the Advocate dated 14 October 1916, and a picture of Mason cut from a newspaper.
