Studio portrait of 412860 Aircraftman Frederick Cecil Taylor. An Assistant Shire Clerk in Gilgandra, NSW, prior to enlistment, he trained at the RAAF No. 2 School of Technical Training. Posted to 460 Squadron RAAF and promoted to Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt), Taylor's Lancaster W4987 aircraft was hit by flak on its mission to bomb Hamburg on the evening of 24-25 July 1943. All crew members were killed in the resulting aircrash near Cuxhaven. Flt Sgt Taylor was 27 years old.
