11 page manuscript authored by Tasman Frederick Ayers (VX59823). Includes additional 2 page addendum 'We are reborn at Angoram on 30 Sep 1945' (26 November 1945) authored by Jemadar Chint Singh of the 12th Frontier Force Regiment. Manuscript recounts experience of Indian prisoners of war who were moved from Singapore to New Guinea in May 1943. Details nature of rations, supplies, housing and treatment at hands of Japanese guards and experiences dealing with indigenous groups. Addendum by Singh details the process by which they were released from Merinberg to Angoram. Note: Jemadar Chint Singh was retained by 6th Division AIF as a witness in the war-crimes trials.
