Studio portrait of 416007 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) Bruce William Richards, RAAF (later Sergeant, 27 Operational Training Unit, RAF), of Kensington Gardens, SA. Educated at St Peters College Adelaide and Adelaide University, he was a bank clerk prior to enlisting in March 1941. Sergeant (Sgt) Richards was the pilot of Wellington P9285 which was lost over the North Sea on 16 July 1942. The cause of the crash was determined to be accidental and Sgt Richards' remains were not recovered. He was 21 years of age. Sgt Richards is commemorated at the Runnymede Memorial in Surrey, England.
