Studio portrait of 4631 Private (Pte) Henry Charles Ellis Rundle, 32nd Battalion. A farmer from Port Wakefield, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 12th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 16 December 1916 aboard HMAT Berrima (A35) for Devonport, England. Following training in England he proceeded to France to join his battalion on the Western Front near Racquinghem on 1 August 1917. Pte Rundle was killed in action near Warneton, France, on 19 February 1918. He was aged 26 years.
