Description

Studio portrait of 209 Driver (Dvr) Charles David Vue Whittaker, 32nd Battalion. A horse driver from Glanville, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked from Adelaide on 18 November 1915 aboard HMAT Geelong for Suez. His battalion relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916. Dvr Whittaker was killed in action near Corbie, France, on 24 June 1918 and is buried in the Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery. He was aged 30 years.
