Description

Sage green Nomex United States Air Force issue flying suit with a soft stand and fall collar, reinforced shoulders and a front zipper opening with a twin ended zip fastener running from neck to crutch. There are four ventilation holes under each arm. The suit has two angled breast pockets; a side opening pocket on the upper right arm with an attached small additional pocket to hold pens or markers covered with a Velcro flap; two pockets on each thigh, one with a vertical opening and one with a horizontal opening; and a pocket on each calf with a horizontal opening. All have metal zipper closures. There are vertical zipper fastenings at the ankle openings, and Velcro with Nomex tabs for size adjustment at the waist.

A Velcro patch is sewn above the left breast pocket to take a name badge (not present). A self fabric panel inside the left leg has fittings and pockets to hold survival equipment which are closed with a metal press stud. Each shoulder has a cut down jungle green shoulder strap sewn to it bearing RAAF rank stripes for a wing commander and a blue embroidered shoulder title. A manufacturer's label is sewn inside the back neck reads: 'COVERALLS, FLYERS, MEN, SUMMER/ FIRE RESISTANT 27/P SAGE GREEN MIL-C 83141A (USAF)/ DLA100-85 C-0817/ 100% ARAMID/ GREENBRIER INDUSTRIES, INC./ 38R/ 8415-01-043-8384'. A second label gives care instructions.
