Outdoor portrait of 1167 Private (Pte) John Liddle, 36th Battalion, of Newcastle, NSW. A miner prior to enlistment, Pte Liddle embarked with D Company from Sydney on HMAT Beltana (A72) on 13 May 1916. Pte Liddle later transferred to the 35th Battalion and was killed on action on 7 May 1918 in France, aged 37.
