Description

Brigadier George Langley DSO, Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion (Australian) Imperial Camel Corps, and Commanding Officer of the 14th Light Horse Regiment, December 1916 - January 1919 [memoirs]. Brigadier Langley talks about Lawrence of Arabia in Damascus and Beirut; mentions Newcombe and Colonel Joyce working with Lawrence; speaks of travelling to Gallipoli as reinforcements on the transport ship Southland, and of being torpedoed. Brigadier Langley married Edmee Mary Plunkett in December 1918 in Cairo. Edmee Plunkett was secretary to Lord Edward Cecil, with the Egyptian Government, and also speaks of meeting Lawrence during the recording.
