Studio portrait of 653 Sapper (Spr) Peter Hodgetts, 2nd Divisional Signal Company. Spr Hodgetts, a tram conductor from Ballarat, Vic prior to enlistment, embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Borda on 22 December 1914. Later transferring to the 4th Divisional Signal Company he was killed in action by enemy aircraft on 7 July 1917, aged 23. He was buried in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension (Nord), France.
