Studio portrait of 4524 Private Charles Hull, 15th Battalion, of Burrawang, NSW. A farmer prior to enlistment he embarked from Brisbane, Qld with the 14th Reinforcements on board HAMT Wandilla (A62) on 31 January 1916. Hull was taken on strength and transferred to the 47th Battalion in April 1916. He reached the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) on 2 November 1917. Sgt Hull was killed in action at Dernancourt, France on 28 March 1918, aged 22. He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
