Studio portrait of 3508 Private (Pte) Frederick Raymond Tulk, 5th Battalion, of Northcote, Victoria. A clerk prior to enlistment, Pte Tulk embarked with his brother 3507 Pte Claude Henry James Tulk, with the 11th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Nestor (A71) on 11 October 1915. Pte Frederick Tulk was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on 25 July 1916, aged 19. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France. Pte Claude Tulk returned to Australia on 12 May 1919.
