Outdoor portrait of 2116 Private (Pte) Ernest John Armistead, 22nd Battalion, of Boonah, Vic. A labourer prior to enlistment he embarked with the 4th Reinforcements on board HMAT Hororata (A20) on 27 September 1915. Pte Armistead was killed in action on 27 July 1916, aged 24. He is buried at the Gordon Dump Cemetery, OVillers-La Boiselle, France.
