Description

Studio portrait of 346 Gnr (later Sgt) Edmund Thomas Cornish, 1st Field Artillery Brigade (later 10th Field Artillery Brigade), of Orange, NSW, son of Philip Thomas and Frances K. Cornish of Arncliffe, NSW, brother of Pte (later Sgt) 2533 Walter Thomas Cornish, (Died of Wounds, 22 September 1917). A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Argyleshire (A8) on 18 October 1914. He was killed in action on 8 August 1918,during the Battle of the Somme, at Cerisy, France, aged 25. He is buried in the Cerisy-Gailly Military Cemetery, France.
