Studio portrait of 3100 Private (Pte) Charles Martin, 26th Battalion, of Toowoomba, Qld. A farmer prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 7th Reinforcements on board HMAT Itonus (A50) on 30 December 1915. Pte Martin was reported missing, and subsequently killed in action, on 29 July 1916, aged 21. He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
