Description
Informal portrait of Light Horse troopers, probably of the machine gun section of the CMF Remount Section, Army Service Corps (ASC), Permanent Military Forces (PMF), posing behind a Colt model 1895 light machine gun. Taken during a pre-war training camp, the only man identified is 3128 Private (Pte) Gordon Henry Greaves (far right). Pte Greaves enlisted in the AIF on 6 August 1918, served with the Australian Remount Unit in Egypt and returned to Australia on 14 September 1919. He enlisted again in the Second World War, served with Z Special Unit and was discharged a Lieutenant on 20 May 1947.
