Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 30239 Driver Gordon Cecil Buckingham Champion, who served with the 2nd Australian Divisional Ammunition Column. Collection includes over fifty original handwritten letters and numerous cards, postcards and envelopes written by Champion to his sweetheart Dorrie (Dorothea Ellen Adams) during training and while on active service. Also includes correspondence from friends of Dorrie and Gordon, including an original letter written to Dorrie from Rollie (4861 Private Roland Walter Lofts); original letters to Dorrie from Harold Cole; and an original letter written to Dorrie from Iris (Gordon's sister). Copies of 2 studio photographs of Champion in uniform are also included in the collection.
