Informal portrait on horseback, of 2092 Driver (Dvr) Duncan McFarlane, 3rd Brigade Australian Field Artillery, of Clare, SA; formerly of Longnidry, Scotland. A bushman prior to enlisting on 29 August 1914, Dvr McFarlane embarked from Adelaide aboard HMAT Medic (A7) on 20 October 1914. He was accidentally killed when he fell from a train near Zagazig, Egypt, on 18 March 1916. Pte McFarlane was 27 years of age.
