Studio portrait of 282 Private James Richard Dummett, 14th Company Australian Machine Gun Corps of Smithfield, NSW. A store manager prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Benalla (A24) on 1 May 1916. On 7 August 1916, he died in the General Hospital, Tidworth, United Kingdom, of an abscess of the liver, aged 29. He is buried in the Tidworth Military Cemetery, United Kingdom.
