Studio portrait of 3965 Private Henry Whittemore, 13th (later 4th Pioneer) Battalion of Granville, NSW. A flour miller prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 6 August 1916, aged 23. He is buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery Ovillers-La Boisselle, France
