Studio portrait of 2nd Lieutenant Gilbert Bernard Owen Tuck, 54th Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. A school master prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Boorara (A42) on 19 August 1916. He was killed in action by an enemy sniper at the front line, France, on 19 February 1917, aged 35. He is buried in the AIF Burial Ground, Flers, France.
