Studio portrait of 9465 Private (later Sergeant) Leslie Thomas Sheils, 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance (later 5th Brigade Australian Field Artillery) of Harris Park, NSW, brother of 6345 Private Edward Michael Sheils, (died of wounds on 10 April 1917, see P08624.109). A foreman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Malakuta (A57) on 16 March 1916. He was killed in action on 13 July 1918 at Mericourt, France, aged 28. He is buried in the Frenchencourt Communal Cemetery, France.
