Studio portrait of 4429 Private (Pte) Arthur Beaven, 1st Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. A telephone mechanic prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Osterley on 15 January 1916. Pte Beaven died, aged 22, on 27th July 1916 in the No 44 Casualty Clearing Station, France of wounds received in action on 25th July 1916, during the Pozieres campaign. He is buried in the Puchevillers British Cemetery, France.
