Description

Studio portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) Anthony Aloysius Devine, 10th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB). Lt Devine, a grain broker from Geelong, enlisted in the 1st AIF in May 1915 and attended Officers' Training School, qualifying as Second Lieutenant in August 1915. Initially serving in the Middle East with the 29th Battalion, he later joined the 12th FAB in France, before transfering to the 10th FAB. He was detached for a period to the Reserve Brigade Australian Artillery. After the war, whilst still in England he took leave "to gain a knowledge of the tea brokering and tea selling system in UK". He returned to Australia in January 1920.
