Studio portrait of 1164 Private (Pte) John Michael Connors, 37th Battalion, of Tarrawingee, Vic. A farmer prior to enlisting in January 1916, Pte Connors embarked on board HMAT Persic (A34) on 3 June 1916. He served in France but was given a medical discharge in July 1917 due to a severe knee injury. He returned to Australia in December 1917.
