Studio portrait of 5439 Private (Pte) Bertram James Warren, 24th Battalion. A sailor prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 14th Reinforcements from Melbourne aboard HMAT Miltiades on 1 August 1916. While serving in France, Pte Warren was killed in action on 5 February 1917. He has no known grave, and his name is commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
