Studio portrait of NX7877 Private (Pte) Roy Hollands, 2/3 Battalion, of Nowra, NSW. Pte Hollands and his brother NX7290 Pte Eric (Rudd) Hollands, also 2/3 Battalion, enlisted in November 1939. They served together in at Bardia and Tobruk, Libya. On 21 January 1941 Eric was wounded by a mine explosion at Tobruk. Pte Roy Hollands, aged 24, was shot and killed as he went to his brother's assistance. Eric survived, but was discharged in May 1942.
