Out door portrait of 2254 Trooper (Tpr) Cyril Augustus Tonkin, 10th Light Horse Regiment, of Serpentine, WA. Formerly a timber worker, Tpr Tonkin enlisted on 7 December 1915, and as a member of the 15th Reinforcements he embarked from Fremantle aboard HMAT Ulysses (A38). He served in Palestine where he died of illness on 21 February 1919, aged 32 years.
