Studio portrait of 4224 Private (Pte) David Koellner, 13th Battalion of Bega, NSW. A blacksmith with previous service in the Citizens' Military Forces (CMF), Pte Koellner enlisted on 2 August 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Aeneas (A60) on 20 December 1915. He was killed in action on 26 September 1917 aged 22 and has no known grave.
