Studio portrait of 2200 Private (Pte) Cyril John Roche, 17th Battalion, of Glen Innes, NSW. Pte Roche, a printer prior to enlistment, embarked on board HMAT Argyllshire (A8) on 30 September 1915. He served in Belgium and France. Pte Roche was wounded in action on 2 March 1917 when the 17th Battalion was following the retreat of German Forces to the Hindenburg Line. He died of his wounds on 3 March 1917. He was 25 years of age.
