Studio portrait of 5332 Private (Pte) Peter Anthony Black, 3rd Battalion of Annandale, NSW. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Black enlisted on 10 January 1916 and left Australia as part of the 17th reinforcements aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 30 April 1916. Soon after, he was reallocated to the 55th Battalion as part of the 'doubling-up' of the Australian Imperial Force. He was killed in action on 12 May 1917 at the Battle of Bullecourt and has no known grave.
