Studio portrait of 162 Private (Pte) (later Corporal) Richard Stanley Mayo, 3rd Battalion, of Paddington, NSW. A fitter's assistant before enlisting on 17 August 1914, Pte Mayo embarked from Sydney on HMAT Euripides on 20 October 1914 with A Company. He was killed in action at Proyart, France on 23 August 1918, at the age of 23.
