Pre-enlistment studio portrait of 566 Private (Pte) Arthur Percival Harbeck, 6th Battalion, of Cunninghame, Vic. A salesman prior ro enlistment, Pte Harbeck embarked with E Company from Melbourne on HMAT Hororata on 19 October 1914. On 22 May 1915 he died in Malta as the result of wounds received at Gallipoli. He was aged 23. Two of Pte Harbeck's brothers also served overseas during the First World War. 123 Sergeant Albert Roy Harbeck, 39th Battalion, died of wounds in Ploegsteert, Belgium, on 1 May 1917. A third brother 2nd Lieutenant Reginald Peter Harbeck, having enlisted in 1914, returned to Australia in 1919 in the 2nd Signal Squadron.
