Studio portrait of 3204 Private (Pte) Wilmot Ernest West, 15th Battalion later transferred to the 47th Battalion, of Westbury, TAS. A farmer prior to enlistment he embarked with the 10th Reinforcements a board HMAT Port Lincoln (A17) on 16 October 1915. Pte West was wounded in action on 9 August 1916 and was admitted to hospital, he proceeded overseas to France in January 1917 and rejoined his unit in the field on 6 February. On 7 June 1917 Pte West was killed in action, aged 22. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
