Major Roy Maynard: home movie 8th Division Australian Army Medical Corps personnel Malaya
Description
Three 8mm Black and White and Colour films taken by Major Roy Maynard AAMC while serving in Malaya prior to the fall of Singapore. Major Maynard, a dermatologist, was initially a member of 2/9 Field Ambulance and then attached to 2/10 Australian General Hospital. The films show local people, street scenes, fellow officers including Dr John Cade and Dr John Park. The colour footage includes different flowers (frangipani, hibiscus and others), landscapes. Scenes including nurses and the interior of the hospital are on the third film. Major Maynard was taken prisoner of war and interned at Changi.
