Studio portrait of brothers 1181 Trooper (Tpr) Vernon Cameron Gregory (left) and 1182 Tpr Eugene Harry Gregory (right), 3rd Light Horse Regiment, of Morchard, SA. Labourers before enlisting together in January 1915, Vernon and Eugene Gregory left Australia for Egypt with the 8th Reinforcements in August 1915. Vernon Gregory was transferred to the Imperial Camel Corps (ICC) in November 1916, and was killed in action during the Second Battle of Gaza on 19 April 1917, age 22. Eugene Gregory returned to Australia in June 1919. The portrait of the Gregory brothers appeared in the South Australian newspaper "The Chronicle" on 31 January 1917, page 28.
